FG, States in Discussion Over Adoption of State Police

At a State House meeting on Thursday, Minister of Information and National Orientation Mohammed Idris, alongside Governors Caleb Mutfwang (Plateau), Ubah Sani (Kaduna), and Sheriff Oborevwori (Delta), discussed the possibility of state police.

The minister noted that further discussions on the modalities for setting up state police were forthcoming, and no concrete decisions had been made.

The meeting also addressed food security, with President Bola Tinubu directing the National Security Adviser, the Director-General of the Department of State Services, and the Inspector General of Police to cooperate with governors to end food commodity hoarding.

The government will not import food commodities, as it aims to sustain local food production and become a net exporter.
