FCTA grants operational licenses to Bolt, Nairaxi

The Federal Capital Territory Administration’s Transportation Secretariat has officially issued operational licenses to ride-hailing platforms Bolt and Nairaxi, enabling them to provide on-demand transportation and delivery services in the FCT. These licenses signify the commitment of the FCTA to regulate and register commercial drivers and vehicles, enhancing security measures in the capital city.

The move is in line with the FCT Minister’s earlier announcement regarding the registration of commercial vehicles, emphasizing the importance of FCT color-coded vehicles for commercial operations. Other ride-hailing services are urged to commence their licensing processes promptly to avoid potential restrictions on their operations within the FCT. The decision to authorize Bolt and Nairaxi is based on their established reputation for delivering top-notch digital transport and logistics services in the region.

The FCTA intends to commence enforcement operations on non-compliant operators while signaling the possibility of banning operators lacking the FCTA Public Transport Management License. Bolt, a globally recognized transportation mobility company operating in over 500 cities, and Nairaxi, a Nigerian mobility tech firm, are expected to contribute to regulated and elevated e-ride-hailing services in the FCT.
