NCAA warns Domestic Airlines over Flight Disruptions

The Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has issued a strong warning to domestic airlines, cautioning against frequent flight delays, disruptions, and schedule changes without prior notification to passengers. Acting Director General Chris Najomo, in a statement released in Abuja, emphasized that airlines failing to comply would face appropriate sanctions. Increased surveillance measures will be implemented to enforce compliance and address violations. Najomo urged airlines to prioritize improved customer experience and better handling of passengers in alignment with the Aviation Minister’s agenda.

The NCAA remains committed to ensuring that airlines fulfill their passenger obligations, with sanctions looming for non-compliance. Additionally, Najomo highlighted the importance of aligning flight schedules with operational aircraft capacity and scheduling sunset flights early to avoid cancellations. The directive also emphasizes proper treatment of persons with reduced mobility, as mandated by the Nigeria Civil Aviation Regulation Part 19. The authority is dedicated to enhancing the overall travel experience for air transport passengers, ensuring their comfort and satisfaction.

Michael Achimugu, Director of Consumer Protection and Public Affairs, emphasized the commitment to aviation industry standards and warned of sanctions for flight disruptions or infractions. Addressing concerns about airport facilities, single standby generators, bird strikes, and congested boarding gates, the Director of Airport Operations (FAAN) acknowledged these issues and assured efforts to minimize incidents and enhance passenger experience and baggage flow.
