Unilorin Expels Five Students, Rusticates 14 Others

The University of Ilorin, Kwara State, has taken disciplinary action by expelling five students and rusticating 14 others for various misconducts. Among those sanctioned were six final-year students.

According to the university’s Director of Corporate Affairs, Kunle Akogun, the 19 students were found guilty of offenses including “misconduct, theft, examination malpractice, hostel bed-space racketeering, extortion, assault, and admission racketeering.”

Akogun stated in a Monday release that these actions were taken at the 220th/221st meeting of the university’s Students’ Disciplinary Committee, chaired by Vice Chancellor Wahab Egbewole (SAN).

The affected students were from different academic levels, spanning 100 to 400 levels.

The statement indicated that five students were expelled for alleged examination malpractice and theft, while 14 others were rusticated for either a semester or a full academic session.

These disciplinary measures affected students from various departments, including Art Education, Biochemistry, Mathematics, Physiotherapy, Performing Arts, History and International Studies, Linguistic and Nigerian Languages, Chemistry, Engineering & Technology, Industrial Relations and Personnel Management, and Anatomy.
