Corruption: Police Ransack Magu’s Home

There seems to be no respite for the suspended acting chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes- EFCC- Ibrahim Magu after his Karu home in the outskirts of Abuja was searched by operatives of the Force Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department of the Nigerian Police Force on Tuesday.

Magu’s interrogation by the Justice Ayo Salami Presidential Panel continued on Tuesday after he spent hours with the panel on Monday explaining himself on several allegations bordering on abuse of office, mismanagement of recovered loot, selling off confiscated assets to cronies and friends in contravention of laid down rules and as the minister of justice and attorney general of the federation, Abubakar Malami alleged, insubordination to superior authorities.

The police officers who searched Magu’s home located at Abduljalil Street, Karu Site, on the outskirts of Abuja made away with vital documents that is hoped will help investigators now probing Magu’s administration at the nation’s leading anti-graft agency. The Karu home was Magu residence before he relocated to Maitama District following his appointment as the country’s anti-corruption czar.

Magu spent his second night in detention at the Force Headquarters on Tuesday after his time with the Justice Ayo Salami panel.
