NAF Air Strike Eliminate Over 30 Kidnappers in Kaduna

The Air Component of Operation Whirl Punch has effectively conducted an air strike along the Kwiga-Kampanin Doka axis in Birnin Gwari Local Government Area of Kaduna State, resulting in the elimination of approximately 30 terrorists and kidnappers. The operation, as detailed by Director of Public Relations and Information of the Nigerian Air Force (NAF), AVM Edward Gabkwet, was prompted by actionable intelligence on the movement of criminals in the region.

The intelligence indicated that the same syndicate was responsible for a recent ambush on troops at Kwanan Mutuwa on Jan. 27, along with multiple attacks and abductions of civilians in Birnin Gwari. A thorough scan revealed a convoy of about 15 motorcycles, each carrying at least two armed terrorists. The terrorists were tracked to a location where they gathered, and a precision strike was executed to neutralize the threat.

The aftermath of the air strike revealed the successful elimination of several terrorists, showcasing the precision and effectiveness of the operation. The Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Hasan Abubakar, commended the commander and the entire troop for their professionalism in patiently tracking the criminals and seizing the appropriate opportunity to strike.

While recognizing the success of the operation, Abubakar emphasized the need to keep pushing and striving to address security challenges in the region. The operation exemplifies the commitment of the Nigerian Air Force to proactive measures against criminal elements, contributing to the overall security efforts in the affected area.
