The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has implemented a new Creed for civil servants with the aim of guiding ethical conduct, instilling confidence, and promoting professionalism within the organization. The inauguration of the Creed took place during the 2024 FCTA Staff Awards and Recognition Ceremony held in Abuja. This initiative is part of broader reforms geared towards enhancing service delivery and organizational culture.
FCT Minister Nyesom Wike, who inaugurated the Creed, expressed the Administration’s commitment to advancing the welfare and living standards of FCT staff and residents. He emphasized that these efforts align with President Bola Tinubu’s overarching ‘Renewed Hope Agenda.’
The Creed, developed in collaboration with the outgoing FCTA Permanent Secretary, Adesola Olusade, encapsulates essential values and principles crucial for the effective and efficient delivery of public services to residents. Acting Director of the FCTA’s Department of Reforms Coordination and Service Improvement, Jumai Ahmadu, stressed the importance of building a world-class and result-oriented civil service, urging reciprocal commitment from the workers.
While acknowledging the significance of attractive welfare packages to motivate employees, Ahmadu underscored the need for civil servants to demonstrate dedication to their duties and responsibilities. The Creed, therefore, serves as a guiding framework to inspire a renewed sense of purpose and professionalism among civil servants.
Adesola Olusade further highlighted that the commitment to the Creed reflects a proactive and forward-thinking approach to fortifying the organizational culture and ethos of the public service. The initiative is expected to foster a more accountable, transparent, and citizen-focused public administration within the Federal Capital Territory.
