NNL Appeals to Corporate Organizations for Financial Support

The Nigeria National League (NNL) is seeking financial assistance from private companies to enhance the second-tier football league in the country, as reported by Chairman George Aluo. The league has been grappling with financial constraints, and Aluo has emphasized the significance of corporate support, similar to the backing provided by GTI to the Nigerian Professional Football League (NPFL).

Aluo clarified that the league is not soliciting funds for personal gain, but rather requesting financial support to cover referees’ indemnity. This initiative aims to ensure that referees are not intimidated and can perform at their best, ultimately leading to more teams winning on the road, as currently observed in the NPFL.

Aluo further appealed to corporate organizations to extend their support to the NNL, as GTI has done for the NPFL. He emphasized the league’s aspirations to shift towards community-based clubs and private ownership, which he believes will bring about positive changes in the management of football in Nigeria.

Aluo believes that government involvement in football management should be minimized, and instead, the focus should be on encouraging community-based clubs and private ownership to drive the growth and development of the sport in the country.
