Emmanuel Amuneke Shares His Vision for the Super Eagles

Former Tanzania coach and U-17 World Cup-winning coach, Emmanuel Amuneke, has revealed his aspirations to become the next Super Eagles coach and his plans to elevate the team to world-class status.

In an interview with The Punch, Amuneke highlighted his coaching journey, including stints with El Makasa in Egypt and Khartoum Club in Sudan, and leading Tanzania to their first Africa Cup of Nations tournament in 2019. He reiterated his football philosophy, focusing on winning, building a strong team, and maintaining possession.

Former players like Moses Kpakor, Kadiri Ikhana, Tajudeen Disu, Fatai Amoo, and Basil Nkwocha have advocated for an indigenous coach, citing their deep understanding of Nigerian and African football.

However, ex-midfielder Wasiu Ipaye has suggested a foreign coach with indigenous coaches as assistants to garner respect from foreign-based players.
