Investigating vote buying is an uphill task, Bolaji Owasanoye, the Chairman of Independent Corrupt Practices and other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) said.
Owasanoye said while vote buying is widespread, it’s difficult to arrest and prosecute offenders, especially at polling units – which could disrupt voting and endanger innocent lives.
He added that there’s a need to adopt preventive measures such as the use of technology and other voting infrastructure.
However, the ICPC boss said the commission was currently working on a policy paper to suggest remedial measures.
