The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has established a Special Task Force in all its Zonal Commands to address the ‘dollarization’ of the economy.
The commission has also summoned the owners of private universities and other higher education institutions in Nigeria that charge fees in dollars. This action is in line with the enforcement of existing laws against currency mutilation and the dollarization of the economy.
The Chairman of the commission, Ola Olukoyede, inaugurated the task force in Abuja, aiming to safeguard the economy from abuses, leakages, and distortions. The EFCC has already apprehended individuals involved in invoicing in dollars and the mutilation of the Naira in Lagos and Port Harcourt. The commission is committed to upholding all laws that contribute to the reflation and stimulation of the economy.
