Terrorist seized 40 congregants during a church service in Kaduna State’s Chikun Local Government Area on Sunday.
Rev Joseph John Hayab, Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) in Kaduna State, says 15 of the abducted worshippers had been released to their families.
On Monday, journalists in Kaduna were told that “about 40 people were abducted by gunmen on Sunday during a Church service at Bege Baptist Church, Madala along Buruku Baringi road in Chikun local government area of Kaduna state.”
“Rev. John Joseph Hayab, Chairman, CAN Kaduna state chapter, said the worshippers were in the Sunday service at the Church when they heard gun shots very close to the Church around 9:30am.” The gunmen assaulted the church and took 40 worshipers with them.”
“Somehow, 15 of the kidnapped persons returned along the way, leaving the remaining 25 in captivity with no word from their abductors.”
“Efforts are being made to contact the abductors about the remaining people, and we pray that the abductors will be merciful and return the remaining 25 to their families.”
DSP Mohammad Jalige, spokesperson for the Kaduna State Police Command, said he will call the affected area’s DPO and get back to them.
