The Niger Delta Development Commission’s N876 billion budget for the fiscal year 2023 was approved by the House of Representatives on Wednesday.
This came after the House Committee on NDDC report was read, considered, and adopted under the leadership of Olubunmi Tunji Ojo.
According to the budget’s specifications, the following amounts will be spent on personnel: N34.24 billion; overhead: N17.47 billion; internal capital: N3.71 billion; and project development: N490.55 billion.
Additionally, the House granted President Muhammadu Buhari’s request to extend the capital budget’s implementation timeframe by six months, from June to December 2023.
This came after the first and second readings of a report on an executive bill for an Act to amend the 2022 Appropriation Act to extend the implementation of the capital portion of the 2022 budget from June 30 to December 31, 2023.
The majority leader, Alhassan Ado-Doguwa, sponsored the measure, which was heard by the supply committee, which was chaired by Speaker Femi Gbajabiamila.
