The FCT Command of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has announced the arrest of 34 suspects during a sweep operation on illicit drug dens in the area.
The Commander of the agency, Kabir Tsakuwa, revealed on Thursday.
Tsakuwa explained that the operation, which began on May 8, was initiated in order to combat drug abuse, particularly as Nigeria prepares for a new administration.
The command successfully seized various illicit substances, including Cannabis Sativa, Methamphetamine, Tramadol, Codeine, Rohypnol, and other psychotropic substances.
“Some of the drug hotspots raided include Torabora, Dei-dei, Wuse Zone 4, Wuse Zone 3, Banex, Garki Village, Area 1, Gwarimpa (Village, 3rd Avenue), Abattoir in Karu, Gwagwalada, Kabusa, and Kuchigoro IDP Camp.
“While some of the arrested individuals have been charged and taken to court, others who are users are undergoing counselling sessions,” he said.
