The Senate has passed an amendment to the ICPC Act that imposes a N100,000 fine for false petitions.
The amendment to Section 25 now provides a two-year imprisonment penalty for anyone whose petition to the commission is found to be false or intended to mislead.
The Senate Committee on Anti-Corruption and Financial Crimes considered a report on this matter.
The Senate previously intended to make the ICPC more proactive by streamlining its operations with the EFCC.
