Police apprehends suspected human trafficker in Osun State

Adebisi Muideen, a suspected human trafficker, has been apprehended for allegedly trafficking four teenage girls from Osun to Kano State.

The girls were to be trafficked through Libya’s Tripoli corridor.

According to a source, three of the girls later escaped Muideen’s den in Kano and contacted their parents, who reported the incident to the police.

As a result, the three girls have been re united with their families, but the fourth girl’s whereabouts remains unknown.

During questioning the suspected trafficker stated that the girls willingly agreed to travel to Libya for work.

“My brother in Tripoli instructed me to find girls for him and send them to one man in Kano who will transport them to Libya from Kano he explained.

The suspect stated that when he arrived at the man’s house in Kano, he encountered a large number of girls who were being processed for journey to Libya.

Yemis Opalola, the Spokesperson for the Osun State Police Command, confirmed the arrest.

“The suspect invited the young girls to a birthday party at a hotel in Ile-Ife and provided them with foods and drinks,” she said.

”After consuming the food and beverages, the girls fell asleep and awoke in Kano State, en route to Tripoli, Libya’s capital.”

Opalola stated that the case would be thoroughly investigated and charged in court once the investigation was completed.
