The Deputy Medical Director of General Hospital, Ijede, Olumuyiwa Balogun-Oluwa on Tuesday denied the allegation of a viral post on some social media platforms saying that health workers at the hospital are on vacation.
Balogun-Oluwa denied the claims adding that the allegation is totally untrue and fabricated.
He explained that the hospital provides 24-hour service round the clock, even during the festive periods, as all medical staff of the facility operate on a rotational basis and patients are attended to by the doctors and nurses on duty frequently and without undue delay.
The director said that the people behind the post are only being economic with the truth for alleging that the workers were on vacation because the clinic area was under lock during their visit for a routine wound dressing.
According to him, “Two people who came for dressing at the hospital met the clinic area, where the dressing is normally done, under lock. However, a staff who was around at the time informed them to go to the emergency ward for the dressing because such duties are carried out at the location during public holidays. But instead, they decided to chase clout by making a post that is false in its entirety”.
Balogun-Oluwa while urging the general public to disregard the misinformation contained in the viral post, described it as malicious and deceitful with the sole intent to damage the reputation and integrity of the highly revered facility and its hardworking staff.
