Security operatives prevent unvaccinated Civil Servants from entry into Federal Secretariat

Some Civil servants who haven’t been vaccinated were on Wednesday, turned back by security personnel occupying the major entrance to the Federal Secretariat, Abuja.

Staff and persons without a vaccination card or evidence of negative PCR test were denied entry into the building.

Recall that the chairman of the Presidential Taskforce on COVID-19, Boss Mustapha, had announced in October that civil servants without proof of vaccination and negative PCR tests would not be allowed to access government buildings from December 1, 2021.

However, the Association of Senior Civil Servants of Nigeria had pleaded with the Federal Government to extend the deadline till March next year, a move which the PSC had described as “impossible”.

Following this development, some of the unvaccinated civil servants questioned the Federal Government’s decision saying COVID-19 vaccination should not be forced but should be a matter of choice while others showed their willingness to get vaccinated.
