Senator Nwaoboshi defects from PDP to APC, received by Buhari at State House

Peter Nwaoboshi, the Senator representing Delta North Senatorial District, has defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

The Sentor was received by President Muhammadu Buhari at the State House, Abuja, on Friday.

Nwaoboshi was presented to the President by the Chairman of the APC Caretaker Committee and Governor of Yobe State, Mai Mala Buni, at the First Lady’s Conference Room of the presidential villa.

Buni, as well as other members of the party’s caretaker committee and relevant stakeholders were at the Presidential to brief the Buhari on how they have managed the affairs of the party in the past one year.

Nwaoboshi’s defection is coming barely two days after the Delta State Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party suspended him over alleged anti-party activities.

Recall that Senator Nwaoboshi, who is the Senate Committee Chairman on the Niger Delta Development Commission, has been having problems with the PDP in his state.

The PDP had said the lawmakers suspension became “necessary against the backdrop of the recent romance with an opposition party, verbal recklessness and unprovoked utterances of Senator Nwaoboshi, particularly against the person of Governor Ifeanyi Okowa.”
