Three policemen on ‘stop and search’ duty along Onuebonyi, Nwezenyi Road, Abakaliki, Ebonyi State have been killed by unknown gunmen.
It was reported that the gunmen opened fire on the officers on duty, killed three of them and carted away rifles belonging to them on Wednesday.
Reacting to this development, the state’s Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) DSP Odah Loveth Obianuju allegedly said the incident “could be true but it’s not officially confirmed yet”.
Obianuju said, “It could be true but I’m still waiting for the Deputy Commissioner of Operation who has gone to the area for an on-the-spot assessment to actually come back with the details of this report”.
