INSECURITY: 7 dead, 5,000 displaced by Boko Haram insurgents in Adamawa

No fewer than seven people have been reported dead and 5, 000 others displaced as a result of the Boko Haram insurgents attacks in Adamawa State on Friday.

This was disclosed by the Adamawa State Emergency Management Agency (ADSEMA).

It was gathered that Kwapre, a village in the state’s Hong Local Government Area, close to  Sambisa Forest and on the state’s border with Borno, was attacked on Friday evening.

Confirming the incident, the Executive Secretary of ADSEMA, Mohammed Sulaiman, said the attack on the village had an effect on neighboring areas, where the majority of the displaced people had taken up temporary residence.

Sulaiman added that the insurgent’s invaded Kwapre in nine vehicles, surrounded the village and killed seven people.

He said, “During the attack, 50 houses, worship centres, markets and schools were burnt. Many people, including women, girls and men, were kidnapped by the attackers.”

Sulaiman noted that about eight persons among those kidnapped by the insurgents have escaped from their captors.
