Sequel to the killing of security operatives at the residence of Imo state Governor,
Hope Uzodinma, Governors under the aegis of Nigeria Governor’s Forum have
condemned the attack by gunmen.
The gunmen razed Uzodinma’s country home in Orlu East Local Government Area of Imo State, thereby resulting to the death of two security operatives.
Chairman of the forum, Governor Kayode Fayemi of Ekiti state, in a press statement on
Sunday said the perpetrators took the criminality too far.
He further said the forum deeply sympathizes with Governor Hope and commiserates with all those that have been injured, maimed or killed in the attack.
The Forum however called on all good citizens to cooperate with the nation’s security
forces and the government in trying to build a civil, safe and secure environment for
our citizens.
The chairman also stressed that those behind these crimes, must understand that they
do not have the monopoly of violence.
He appealed to Nigerians to work collectively to fish out perpetrators of this dastardly
act as they constitute a small league of persons trying to harm the corporate
existence of our beloved country, Nigeria.
Also, the All Progressives Congress (APC) has describe the attack on Governor Hope
Uzodinma’s residence and the wanton attacks on police personnel and formations in
Abia, Imo, Ebonyi, Rivers and Anambra states as attack on democracy and constituted
authority.
In a press statement released today, 26th of April,2021, the National Secretary, Caretaker/Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee (CECPC), John James Akpanudoedehe, said the party is still in shock over the criminal act in the state, adding that they sympathize with Hope Uzodinma and all affected in the attack.
The secretary affirmed that the party stands with the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) and
families of the victims in this difficult time as they mourn the deaths of innocent and
dedicated security personnel who were simply carrying out their duty of protecting life
and property.
He also stressed that the party and other security services will definitely not
watch helplessly as some persons and interests attempt to turn Imo state to a killing field.
He however called on the good people of Imo state to go about their legal activities
without fear and resist these enemies of the state as sponsors of these attacks will be
apprehended soon.
