Former Super Eagles striker, Barnabas Imenger, is dead

A former Super Eagles striker in the mid-90s, Barnabas Imenger, is dead.

He died at the National hospital in Abuja in the early hours of Monday after battling an undisclosed ailment.

Imenger was said to have been hospitalized since January at the Federal Medical Centre, Makurdi, Benue State, where he has been in and out of the hospital since then.

Before his death, he was the team manager of the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) club, Lobi Stars.

The former striker also made a name playing for BBL Hawks Makurdi, BCC Lions Gboko, El-Kanemi Warriors of Maiduguri and a number of clubs in Egypt and Saudi Arabia.

He was part of the Super Eagles team that played at the 1995 FIFA Confederations Cup in Saudi Arabia.

In 2013, Imenger was appointed team manager of the Ortom Boys.
