Justice S. S. Ogunsanya of the Lagos state high court on Tuesday sentenced Mojisola Aladejobi, a former General Manager of Dangote Industries Limited and two others, Raymond Akanolu and Balogun Alaba, to seven years imprisonment for an insurance fraud of $32,000.
The criminals had in October 2014, planned to defraud Dangote Industries Limited, of the sum of $32,000 by increasing the premium in the renewal of insurance policy coverage for its Hawker aircraft with the registration number 5N-DGN.
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) sued the offenders on two counts of conspiracy and attempt to secure money by false pretenses to the tune of $32,000.
Justice Ogunsanya, while passing his judgment, held that the prosecution proved its case beyond reasonable doubt and sentenced the offenders on two counts each to seven years imprisonment.
The offense violates Section 323 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State No. 11 of 2011. The prosecution called witnesses and presented documents that were admitted into evidence by the court during the trial.
