The Lagos State Judicial Panel of Restitution and Inquiry set up to investigate cases of police brutality and extra-judicial killings has awarded N7.5million to a petitioner identified as Marc Chidibere Nwadi who spent six years in prison without trial.
The victim alleged that he spent six years in detention because he could not afford to pay bribe.
Doris Okuwobi, the Chairperson of the panel, delivered the judgment on Friday, saying the victim suffered in the hands of the police officers and awarded him a cheque of N7.5m as compensation.
