65yr old Farmer Dies on His Cocoa Plantation in Igangan, Oyo state

Alfa Sikiru Akinlotan, a 65-year-old man has allegedly lost his life on his cocoa plantation on Wednesday in the Igangan community, in the Ibarapa area of Oyo State shortly after the same farm was burnt down. The cause of his death has not yet been ascertained.  

Confirming this ugly incident, Col. Olayinka Olayanju (Rtd) the Amotekun Commandant revealed that on Wednesday, February 10th, 2021, the deceased who hails from the Gbogi compound, Isale Amao area, Igangan, Ibarapa North Local Government died on his farmland at Itigbo, Apodun Road, Igangan.

He said:

“It happened that his cocoa farms with his cashew farm were set ablaze wherein he met his untimely death while he was to quench the fire. He was never attacked by any Fulani or other person.”

Igangan in recent times has been trending due to the growing insecurity fueled by the activities of suspected criminal herdsmen.

Recall that on Wednesday, the Governor of Oyo State Seyi Makinde, revealed that 200 members of the Western Nigeria Security Network in Oyo State popularly known as the Amotekun have been deployed to look into the security challenges in the Ibarapa Local Government Area of the State.
