Nigeria’s former finance minister, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala has entered the final round of the race to select the next director-general of the World Trade Organisation (WTO).
Bloomberg said Nigeria’s former coordinating economic minister would face South Korean Yoo Myung-hee after candidates of the United Kingdom, Kenya and Saudi Arabia were eliminated.
The two candidates will be unveiled by the selection committee at the WTO this Thursday. A winner will emerge on November 6, marking the first time that the world trade body will be led by a woman.
Yoo is South Korea’s trade minister with years of experience in trade connections and bilateral deals.
