Following Weeks of Insecurity, Killings In Southern Kaduna and Attacks By Boko Haram Terrorists In The North East Region, President Muhammadu Buhari Again Summons The Service Chiefs

President Muhammadu Buhari is currently presiding over a meeting of the security council. Our sources revealed that the meeting, holding inside the Presidential Villa, Abuja, has Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo, all the service chiefs and the Inspector-General of Police  in attendance.

Also in attendance are the National Security Adviser, Babagana Monguno; heads of the Department of State Services and National Intelligence Agency; Ministers of Justice, Police Affairs, Defence and Interior among others.

The meeting is coming a day after the Nigeria Governors Forum decried what it called the nation’s worsening security situation.

The last one year has seen an unprecedented rise in terrorism in several parts of the country, killing of innocent villagers by men suspected to be Fulani bandits in the dead of the night, highway robbery, kidnapping and other forms of criminality with the security agencies providing little by way of answers.

The Nigerian Senate weeks ago passed a resolution calling for the resignation of the service chiefs- a call the president’s spokesman, Garba Shehu instantly dismissed, insisting that the choice of heads of security agencies are strictly within the purview of the president.
