Agboola Ajayi, Ondo State Deputy Governor Dumps APC, Joins The PDP

Ajayi and Akeredolu have since fallen apart and there are reports that he intends to run against the governor in the next gubernatorial election billed for October this year. 

The deputy governor of Ondo, Agboola Ajayi, has announced his resignation from the ruling the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state.

Ajayi tendered his resignation letter on Sunday at the at the APC secretariat in Apoi ward 2, Ese Odo LGA of the state and then quickly moved to the secretariat of the opposition PDP in his ward where he immediately picked his membership card.

In the early hours of Sunday, the deputy governor was prevented by the police from leaving government house, Akure.

According to media reports, Ajayi and some of his personal aides were trying to move out their personal items from government house when they were stopped purportedly on the orders of Rotimi Akeredolu, the state governor. Akeredolu has however dissociated himself from the action of the police.

Ajayi and Akeredolu have since fallen apart and there are reports that he intends to run against the governor in the next gubernatorial election billed for October this year.

The deputy governor’s departure from the ruling party happened two days after Godwin Obaseki, governor of Edo state also dumped the party.
