Officials in Ghana have vowed to fish out and punish those involved in the attack on Nigerian high commission in Accra, the country’s capital.
Several media reports had confirmed the invasion and demolition of some residential apartments within the premises of the Nigerian High Commission in Accra.
Ghana’s ministry of foreign affairs and regional intervention in a statement on Sunday announced that the incident is being investigated with the aim of bringing perpetrators to book.
The ministry revealed that adequate security measures have been taken to avoid a repeat of the incidence and assured the Nigerian officials that the situation was under control. The officials also restated its commitment to the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations (VCDR. 1961), maintaining that Ghana remains a law abiding member of the international community.
Abuja has also demanded urgent action from the Ghanaian authorities to identify the individuals that led the attack on Nigeria’s High Commission in Ghana.
Many Nigerians on social media have however wondered why the country has not yet taken a more drastic action in response to the violation of its territorial space in line with international conventions.
