Controversial crossdresser, Idris Okuneye, popularly known as Bobrisky, has been convicted by the Federal High Court in Lagos for abusing the Naira.
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission EFCC had arraigned Bobrisky on four counts of Naira abuse, to which he pleaded guilty. During the trial, Bobrisky expressed ignorance of the law regarding Naira abuse and pleaded for a second chance to educate his followers on social media.
However, Justice Awogboror reiterated that ignorance of the law is not an excuse. The Judge reserved sentencing until April 9, and ordered that he be remanded in EFCC custody pending judgment.With the conviction, Bobrisky could either serve six months in prison, pay a fine of N50,000 or do both.according to Section 21(1) of the CBN Act 2007.
