The Nigerian Navy’s NNS Beecroft reported discovering an illicit fuel depot containing approximately 6,500 liters of Automative Gasoline Oil (AGO) in Lekki, Lagos State, on Tuesday, April 2, 2024. The depot was located at No 3 SilverBird Road, Ilasun Lekki, and five suspects were apprehended in connection with the illegal operation.

The total value of the products discovered is estimated to be around N89 million, based on the current price of AGO at N1,350.

The discovery of the illegal fuel depot was the result of credible intelligence received by NNS Beecroft about suspicious activities taking place at Elegushi beach. This led to the deployment of NNS Beecroft’s Quick Response Team to the location, which resulted in the discovery and arrest of the suspects.
