Court Remands Adeleke’s Associate Over Alleged Terrorism, Murder

Olalekan Oyeyemi, an associate of Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has been remanded in a correctional center on charges of terrorism and the killing of four individuals.

Known as “Emir” and appointed by Governor Adeleke to the Disciplinary Committee for the Osun State Public Transportation System after his swearing-in in 2022, Olalekan was remanded by the Federal High Court in Osogbo, the capital of Osun State.

He faces ten charges related to terrorism and murder.

According to Daily Post, the police prosecutor, Umar Rabiu, informed the court that Olalekan committed the alleged offenses on February 27, August 22, and November 28, 2022, in Osogbo.

Rabiu stated, “Olalekan conspired to with Act of terrorism by being armed with guns, terrorising the All Progressives Congress, APC, supporters and other residents at Orita CMS, Ayepe and Ayetoro in Osogbo thereby killing Muraina Olayiwole, Tope, Tajudeen Rabiu and Oyewale Sharif.”

“The accused person is said to have blocked a Golf car with registration number BD 468 BDJ, driven by one Oyebanji Kazeem, with his bus and a group of thugs, with the driver narrowly escaping death. Additionally, he allegedly set the vehicle on fire due to political differences.”

The prosecutor outlined that the charges contravene Sections 26(1)(a), 2(2), i, h, of the Terrorism (Prevention and Prohibition) Act, 2022.

However, Olalekan pleaded not guilty to the charges, and his defense counsel, Edmund Biriomoni, requested bail for the defendant. The prosecutor, however, asked for more time to respond and file a counter-application for bail.

Presiding Judge Justice Emmanuel Ayoola ordered Olalekan to be remanded in the Ile-Ife correctional center.

The judge then adjourned the case till March 19 for a ruling on the bail application.
