Bandits Demand N290m To Release 7 Abducted Abuja Residents

Bandits who abducted seven residents, including a pregnant woman and three children, from Kuduru, a neighboring community in Bwari Area Council, Abuja, have reportedly demanded a ransom of N290 million for their release. The victims, who have endured captivity for over a month, were abducted from Kuduru Extension by the bandits.

According to a leader from the community who spoke on condition of anonymity, the bandits have issued a dire threat, stating that two of the hostages will be killed if the N290 million ransom is not paid promptly. In addition to the monetary demand, the abductors are insisting on the provision of specific items, including bags of rice, packs of noodles, cough syrups, antibiotics, bed sheets, and cardigans.

Expressing concern for the well-being of the captives, the community leader appealed to Kayode Egbetokun, the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), and Lt. Gen. Taoreed Lagbaja, the Chief of Army Staff, to urgently intervene and secure the release of the hostages. The leader emphasized the deteriorating health conditions of those in captivity, attributing it to the harsh weather and the treatment they are subjected to.
