A Lagos-based musician, Aniji Shedrack Chidubem, popularly known as Sanij-D, has been apprehended by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC on allegations of defrauding a British national, Susan McLean, of Nine Thousand, Three Hundred Euros.
The suspect is also accused of defrauding an American, Diana Rosado Gonzalax, of Two Thousand American Dollars.
Sanij-D was taken into custody in the Kuje Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Abuja, following credible intelligence about the activities of an internet fraud syndicate.
The singer, known for his tracks “Profesy” and “Katalina,” allegedly impersonated Christopher Rossi, a marine engineer involved in boat and pipeline maintenance in Singapore.
According to the EFCC, the musician employed Instagram, Facebook, and WhatsApp applications using foreign phone numbers as part of his fraudulent activities to deceive and defraud his victims. The EFCC is conducting further investigations into the case.
