The Enugu State Police Command has issued a warning against the illegal practice of “Itu Mmadu n’Arụsị,” also known as trial by ordeal.
The command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Daniel Ndukwe, emphatically said trial by ordeal is a criminal offense under Nigerian law as well as the Criminal Code Law of Enugu State.
Ndukwe urged the public to refrain from resorting to such practices and instead seek legal means to resolve disputes.
