UK High Commission Mourns Death of Pupils In Building Collapse

Following the death of 12 persons- including primary school pupils- when a three storey building came tumbling down in Lagos Wednesday morning, the British High Commission in Nigeria has joined the list of high profile mourners sending their condolences across the families of the victims.

The deputy High Commissioner-Harriet Thompson- sent her prayers and
thoughtful wishes to the rescued victims, the emergency workers and
those still trapped in the rubble through Twitter.

There’s another message of sympathy from the official verified Twitter handle of the UK High Commission in Nigeria- @UKInNIgeria. The Commission said they prayed for the quick recovery of the rescued victims.

Earlier in the day, Senate president Bukola Saraki and PDP presidential candidate in the just concluded general elections shared their goodwill message with the families of the victims and called on the concerned authorities to spare no expense in catering for the medical needs of the rescued.

Governor Akinwunmi Ambode who visited the scene of the tragedy Wednesday afternoon said that his government would begin integrity tests on all the buildings in the location assuring that buildings that failed to meet certain structural standards would be demolished at once.
