Yemen’s Houthi militia has announced its intention to carry out further attacks on United States and British warships. In a statement released on Wednesday, the Iran-aligned group identified all participating US and British warships involved in perceived aggression against Yemen as potential targets.
The announcement has raised concerns about escalating tensions in the region, along with potential disruptions to global trade.
Since November 19, the Houthis, who control major parts of Yemen, have been launching drones and missiles at shipping in the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden. The group claims that these attacks are a retaliatory response to Israel’s military operations in Gaza.
