Nigeria’s Aruna Quadri successfully defended his men’s singles title at the 2023 ITTF African Championships, defeating Ahmed Saleh of Egypt in a resounding 4-0 win during the final match on Sunday.
Aruna, the tournament’s number one seed, had a triumphant moment in Tunis, erasing the memory of his injury that cost him a spot in the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games at the same venue.
Aruna expressed his joy, stating, “I am happy with the title because I have a good and bad memory of Tunis, having got injured here during the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games qualification. Winning another title here is good to erase the bad memory. This win will remain with me for a long time. I am happy and I look forward to the next challenge.”
