Hundreds of women and children from the Okuama community in Ughelli South Local Government Area of Delta State have found themselves stranded in forests for six days without food following their escape from the Nigerian Army’s operations after the killing of 16 soldiers last week.
Meanwhile, a young man in a viral video has dared the government to declare him wanted, justifying the soldiers’ killings as a response to oppression.A resident of the Orere community has called on the federal government to consider setting up refugee camps for women and children displaced from the Okuama community.
He said neighboring communities are not accepting fleeing residents for fear of military persecution, exacerbating the plight of the displaced.
