Bandits Demand N40 Trillion Ransom for Abducted Residents in Kaduna

Bandits have requested N40 trillion for the release of 16 residents recently kidnapped in Kaduna State’s Gonin Gora area, as reported by TheCable. Community leader John Yusuf disclosed that the bandits contacted the victims’ families, demanding 11 Hilux vans and 150 motorcycles.

Yusuf expressed the impossibility of meeting such demands, stating, “Even if we sell the entire community, we cannot raise N40 trillion. Even Nigeria, as a country, has never made a budget of N40 trillion.”

He mentioned that the abductions occurred in two separate incidents within four days, resulting in a total of 16 captives. Yusuf highlighted the need for a military base to counter the bandits who exploit the surrounding bushes for criminal activities in Birnin Gwari.

He urged the government to establish a military presence behind the community to prevent further incursions and attacks, particularly in the vast bush areas extending from Gonin Gora to Niger State.

“From our community down to Birnin Gwari, which is over 150 kilometres, is a stretch of bush. “We also have another stretch of bushes from Gonin Gora down to Niger State. He said.
