The Nigeria Customs Service has announced its collaboration with various Federal Government agencies in the battle against hunger within the nation. Mr. Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, the Comptroller General of the NCS, disclosed this during a press briefing in Kano on Friday as part of his official visit to the region.

Adeniyi emphasized that the NCS is diligently working to ensure effective border management to protect industries and safeguard the agricultural sector. He highlighted the agency’s partnership with the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and other relevant stakeholders to bolster food security across the country.

“We are actively engaged in partnerships with other Federal Government ministries and agencies to guarantee food security in Nigeria,” stated the CG.

Furthermore, Adeniyi mentioned that the NCS is collaborating closely with border communities to gather timely intelligence for combating food smuggling and other illicit activities. In an effort to strengthen community relations, the service plans to establish schools and healthcare facilities in border areas through special intervention projects.

The Comptroller General also revealed that the NCS has initiated roundtable discussions with leaders of grain markets to address concerns regarding rising food prices, demonstrating a proactive approach to tackling food-related challenges within the country.
