Activists in Osun State Protest Economic Hardship

Activists in Osun State took to the streets of Osogbo for the second time in the past week, staging a peaceful protest against the prevailing economic hardship faced by Nigerians.

The previous Thursday, activists in the state had organized a similar peaceful protest to voice their concerns about the escalating cost of living, pledging to continue their demonstrations until the government takes steps to alleviate the situation.

Under the leadership of Mr. Waheed Lawal, the chairman of Osun Civil Societies Coalition, the protesters commenced their march from Freedom Park, Osogbo, proceeding through MDS road to Olaiya Junction, where they addressed the gathered crowd.

Accompanied by vigilant security personnel, the protesters moved through the streets, chanting songs to highlight the challenges of the high cost of living.

During the demonstration, Lawal urged President Bola Tinubu to reinstate the fuel subsidy as a measure to ease the burden on Nigerians.

Lawal stated, “No one believes things will turn out like this. We did not write a letter inviting Bola Tinubu to become our president. He was the one who said it was his time ‘Emilokan’ and chose to be the president. Now that he has become the president, nothing is working under him.”
