Bayelsa Assembly Approves 24 Special Advisers for Gov.

The Bayelsa State House of Assembly has granted approval to Governor Douye Diri’s request to appoint 24 special advisers.

The assembly’s approval followed a letter from the governor requesting the appointment of these aides.

During Tuesday’s plenary presided over by Speaker Abraham Ingobere, the letter, titled ‘Request for Approval for the Appointment of Special Advisers,’ was read on the floor by the Clerk of the House, Adogu Kent.

In the letter, Governor Diri stated, “I write to seek the approval of the House of Assembly for the appointment of 24 Special Advisers to the Governor.

“The purpose of the appointment is for effective governance and fulfilment of the vision of the prosperity of the state. “It is in accordance with the provision of Section 196 of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999, as amended.”

Member representing Southern Ijaw Constituency 2, Edwin Bubou-Obolo, moved the motion for the assembly’s approval of the governor’s request, which was seconded by his Southern Ijaw Constituency 3 counterpart, Marlon Moses. They emphasized the necessity of the approval to provide legislative support to the government.
