President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has requested the House of Representatives to extend the period for implementing the capital component of the 2023 appropriation bill and the supplementary appropriation act.
The extension is sought from March 31, 2024, to June 30, 2024, to ensure full implementation of the provisions in the acts. Speaker Abbas Tajudeen read the president’s letter on the floor of the House, highlighting the need for the extension.
The Capital Component Appropriation Bill, as part of the Consolidated Appropriations Act, of 2023, involves funding allocations for various government departments and programs.
The bill aims to address critical issues like clean energy deployment, job creation in clean energy sectors, climate crisis mitigation, water infrastructure development, and economic support for distressed regions.
