Edo APC Youths Take Over Party Secretariat Over Gov. Primary

Enraged youths and women have seized control of the All Progressives Congress (APC) secretariat in Benin, Edo State, demanding the removal of the state executives headed by acting Chairman, Jarret Tenebe, following the governorship primary election held on Saturday.

The primary resulted in the emergence of three winners. Governor Hope Uzodimma, who chaired the Electoral Committee, declared Dennis Idahosa as the winner, while the returning officer, Stanley Ugboaja, announced Monday Okpebholo as the victor. Additionally, Ojo Babatunde, purporting to represent the returning officers from all local governments, proclaimed Anamero Dekeri as the election winner.

Led by the party’s youth leader, Tony Adun, also known as Kabaka, the crowd forcefully entered the premises, retrieving furniture, bags of rice, and other equipment. They pledged to occupy the building for seven days.

Adun stated that their protest was against the conduct of officials during Saturday’s primary election, which resulted in the emergence of three winners, indicating a perceived bias by the executives against the party.
