The people of Isoko North and Isoko South local government areas in Delta State are at odds with Governor Sheriff Oborevwori over plans to relocate some faculties of the Delta State University of Science and Technology.
The governing council had decided to move the faculties of Social Sciences and Management from Ozoro to Orerokpe, the governor’s community in Okpe Local Government Area.
This move has sparked resistance from the communities, with pressure groups and political figures condemning the decision and urging the governor to reconsider to avoid further tension in the state.
Former PDP Elders Council Chairman P. O. Oju advised the governor to learn from history and emulate Governor James Ibori’s approach in establishing Oghara Polytechnic without disrupting existing institutions.
