We Will End Insecurity Next Year – FG

The Federal Government acknowledges the gravity of the security challenges confronting the nation and vows to address insecurity by the close of 2024, according to State Minister of Defence, Dr. Bello Matawalle, during an interview with BBC Hausa. Matawalle emphasized a proactive approach to thwart bandit activities, particularly in the troubled North.

Expressing confidence, Matawalle stated, “With the grace of God, between now and November 2024, all security challenges will be resolved.” He outlined the government’s strategies, including pre-emptive measures to neutralize gunmen before they launch attacks.

Following his electoral defeat in Zamfara State, Matawalle has engaged in a dispute with his successor, Dr. Dauda Lawan Dare of PDP, involving allegations of corruption and misappropriation of state funds. Despite the severity of the state’s security issues, Matawalle revealed that the current governor has not sought communication with him or Governor Badaru on security matters.

Addressing the need for collaboration, Matawalle urged governors facing security challenges to cooperate with the federal government and security forces. He called upon his successor to prioritize the welfare of Zamfara State residents, setting aside political differences for the collective goal of finding solutions.
