Gov. Makinde presents staff of office to new Soun of Ogbomoso

On Tuesday, Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde officiated the presentation of the Instrument of Office and Staff of Office to the new Soun of Ogbomosoland, Oba Ghandi Olaoye, at Ogbomoso Township Stadium.

The governor had earlier approved the selection of Oba Olaoye from the Olaoye Ruling House on September 2, with the kingmakers installing him on September 8. During the presentation, Governor Makinde handed over the symbolic items, stating, “I will now hand over the Instrument of Office and Staff of Office to Oba Ghandi Olaoye, Orumogege III.”

In his acceptance speech, Oba Olaoye articulated a clear vision for a prosperous and peaceful Ogbomosholand, emphasizing a detailed 25-year plan to be unveiled in the coming months. Expressing his commitment to this vision, he drew on his extensive experience in business and over 30 years of pastoring churches. Oba Olaoye, who declared that he has transitioned from a church pastor to a shepherd of the people, urged other contestants to join hands with him in moving the town forward.

The presentation ceremony was attended by prominent dignitaries, including the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, and former Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo.
