Shettima meets with Dangote, Elumelu, others at Presidential Villa

Vice President Kashim Shettima held  a closed-door meeting with private sector representatives, including Tony Elumelu and Aliko Dangote. The meeting, attended by the coordinating minister of Health and Social Welfare, Dr. Muhammad Ali Pate, also includes international development partners like Schubham Chaudhuri, the World Bank’s Country Director.

Mohbad’s autopsy report not with us yet – Police

The Lagos State Police Command has said the AUTOPSY report of the late singer, Ilerioluwa Aloba aka Mohbad, conducted two months ago has not been given to them.The Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, stated that the autopsy report has not been officially received, dismissing rumors. The police emphasized that the family lawyer or pathologists could facilitate the release of the report. Mohbad’s death on September 12 sparked controversies in Nigeria and beyond which prompted the police to set up an investigative team to determine what led to the singer’s demise.

Court fixes Dec 11 for hearing of interior minister’s NYSC certificate forgery case

The Federal High Court in Abuja has set December 11, 2023, for the hearing of a case seeking the disqualification of Interior Minister Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo over an alleged FORGERY of his National Youth Service Corps NYSC certificate. The case, filed by Oladotun Hassan, alleges irregularities in Tunji-Ojo’s NYSC certificate. Justice Emeka Nwite granted leave for the case. Tunji-Ojo faced scrutiny during his Senate screening, with Senator Sadiq Umar questioning the authenticity of his NYSC certificate.The court documents outline various orders, including a declaration that Tunji-Ojo failed to fulfill NYSC Act requirements.

FG seeks more fund to tackle tropical diseases

Stakeholders are urging philanthropists, including Aliko Dangote, Femi Otedola, Emeka Offor, T.Y. Danjuma, to contribute funds for the elimination of Neglected Tropical Diseases (NTDs) in Nigeria by 2030. This appeal was made during an NTDs roundtable meeting in Abuja, commemorating Sightsavers’ 70th anniversary in the country. The Director of Public Health, Dr. Chukwuma Anyaike, stressed the need for increased funding to eradicate NTDs, improve health outcomes, and reduce mortality and morbidity. Sightsavers Country Representative, Sunday Isiyaku, noted the organization’s progress and outlined a $18.2 million cost estimate for elimination efforts.

Mendy to sue Man City for unpaid wages

Former Manchester City defender Benjamin Mendy is planning to sue the Premier League champions for alleged unpaid wages amounting to millions of pounds. Mendy, cleared of rape charges in January, left City in June when his contract expired. The 29-year-old claims City stopped paying him in September 2021 after he was initially charged. Mendy’s legal representative stated that the club failed to pay him wages until the end of his contract in June 2023, and the case will be brought before an employment tribunal.
